Chris Laguna is a pop/alt/folk artist born and residing in southern California. He will attend UC San Diego under the ICAM major beginning fall 2010. He is classically-trained in the piano, trained and practiced in singing, and a father-taught, brother-taught, and mostly self-taught guitarist.

He began writing and recording music around the age of 12, and has recorded four full-length albums and one EP to date, under the names Stagewna, Disenchanted Pony, and most recently simply Chris Laguna. Albums include (in this order) Demos from Upstairs (2008, 12 songs, 43 minutes), Present Masters (2008, 12 songs, 37 minutes), Talecat Pharmacy (2009, 7 songs, 21 minutes), How Now (2009, 14 songs, 43 mintes), and A Boy and A Basement (2010, 13 songs, 41 minutes). For A Boy and A Basement, Chris arranged music for two vocalists and a number of harmonies, guitar, bass, drums, piano, trumpet, saxophone, violin, and clarinet, recording up to twenty-six tracks per song.

Chris's major influences are Paul McCartney (and the rest of The Beatles, but especially McCartney), Elliott Smith, Neutral Milk Hotel, Mason Jennings, Sufjan Stevens, The Decemberists, Belle and Sebastian, Neil Young, The Mountain Goats, and Sunset Rubdown, in approximately that order.

Chris appreciates both technical and intuitive musicianship and tries to incorporate both into his own work, spending much of his day practicing piano, guitar, and singing. He otherwise likes to play Rock Band, Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Brothers, and really any old-school Nintendo platforming games. He likes to run and exercise, and to consume copious amounts of delicious fried chicken, milkshakes, ribs, and Mom's internally-famous chicken pot pie (in fact, he has been cited as saying food may be his favorite thing in the world).

He can be somewhat introverted, but can also be a goofball extraordinaire. When he sets his mind to something, he will dedicate time, energy, and focus to it until he has fulfilled his own, comparatively stringent requirements for satisfaction. Read more on Last.fm.
