Bruce Haedt was born in Rapid City, SD in 1954. He began playing piano and clarinet at age 7 and composing original work on piano at age 9, and also switched to oboe as his primary wind instrument. He wrote, orchestrated and performed a piece called "Try to Understand" with a 12-piece ensemble in 1970. He also wrote the 1972 graduating class song for Stevens High School, "The Iliad" - an inside joke with he and a friend that referenced an Ed Sanders (The Fugs) song from his solo album "Sander's Truck Stop". He started playing and composing on guitar at age 16.

Following a few years of severe depression, he began performing and recording in public in 1978. His original sound engineer in Portland, OR was the painter Don Hazeltine. He also started recording at makeshift home studios using JVC binaural headphone/microphones and primitive multi-tracking techniques. In 1981 he moved to Los Angeles and lived there for 5 months, making attempts to work in the music and film industry. He returned to Seattle and started studying fine arts photography in 1982.

In 1985 he joined the Seattle band The Green Pajamas - recording and performing with them for more than 2 years. He also released the solo album "Miss Lyons Looking Sideways" on Green Monkey Records. He left the band in 1988 and continued recording both at home and in studios through the 1990's. This culminated in the 1991 album "Sons & Daughters" recorded with Steve Boyce.

From 2000 until 2006 he lived in Suquamish WA and frequented the Kitsap County folk music/acoustic music scene. He also recorded 2 solo albums: "Pretty Eye" and "Crow"; as well as three "band" albums working with his drummer Dave Schiel: "Tear It Up", "Tiny Tim (EP)", and "SHU: From the Hip"; and a collaborative music/spoken word album with Dave Schiel and Stephanie Skura titled "Taxonomy Refill". In 2005 he collaborated with Isla Ross, and with Matt Brown from Trespassers William on the album "Good Shepherd".

In 2007 he relocated to Seattle and has continued to develop new works and to archive older recordings. As of April 2011 he has 5 albums released on the Catapult label, including 2010's collection "Excerpts". He is currently recording an album with Steve Boyce and Eddie Williams as engineers - with plans to complete and release it in late 2011 or early 2012. He also plans to release 7 previous albums including "Pretty Eye", "Taxonomy Refill", "Tear it Up/Tiny Tim" (as one album), "Starmaker", "Wild/Than Day" (as one double'length album), "Down to the Bone" and "Sky Change Walker".
