This is the sound of the UK in 2010. Rodo, a new and extremely talented singer, songwriter and performer, set to change the sound of music in the UK.

Starting out as a young girl with a dream, a distinct crystal clear voice and a passion for music, Rodo sang everwhere. In school choirs, church choirs, and bands. Rodo knew she could sing, but really needed to be able to write her own material. In 2003 she attended the Cambridge Academy of Music and Worship, where she began to do just that. 'My voice teacher asked everyone to go away and catch the first song that came in the morning. I did that, wrote it down, and by the next session, we were all sharing our songs. She said to me, I sense an anointing for songwriting, and the class prayed for me. After that, I just wrote and wrote and got better and better.' Fastforward four years later, and writing is one of her biggest strengths. Listening to her debut album, 'Dare to Differ' takes you on a journey through the heart of a young lady, with a powerful message to share with the world. As you listen, you get drawn into a different world, that you really don't want to exit.

In December 2007, Rodo began a journey that would see the birth of her debut album - Dare To Differ. She tells us it was all a leap of faith. 'I had no idea where I would find the right studio, producers or instrumentalists. All I knew was that I had this really heavy burden on my heart to do something. It got so bad that I could not sleep at night. I started looking and asking around for a producer and after a lot of trial, error and dissappointment; I met Calvin. He made everything come alive in the way I had imagined when I first wrote on paper. When he started describing the final sound, it was like he was reading my mind. I said to myself, this is the producer I want to work with. He feels my songs, and we understand what we are trying to achieve on every song. It doesn't matter what I throw at him, he produces it just fine. I have never come out of the studio with a song that was equal or less than the final product I imagined when writing, always better'.

'Biggest Fan' is one of her favourite songs, and she is yet to meet someone who has not fallen in love with it first time round. The song travels seamlessly across genres. Rodo described it to us: 'It is a simple prayer, one of those personal prayers where you sit and talk to God and hope you are making sense. I am asking God to be my biggest fan, but not in the sense of a regular fan. It's my way of asking God to approve of me and whatever I sing or write. I love it because it was inspired during a time of great longing and hoping and reflects the depths of my heart with all sincerity'.

'Don't compare' is a call to every individual to stand tall and appreciate their uniqueness. According to Rodo, Dont Compare is really a song for everyone. 'I was inspired to write it while at University, and I found I was comparing myself to others. Then I realised there is only one me, and I should be the person God intended. I have learnt that everyone is different, and everyone's story is different so anytime I feel down, or I feel the need to compare myself, I remember my song and I'm OK again. For anyone who feels down, insecure or behind everyone else in life, I hope you draw something positive from this song'.

There is no song that captures the loving nature of God than 'Doors'. It tells us that no matter how bad we are having it, no matter what we have done wrong, no matter how along or let down we feel, God is waiting for us with open arms and open doors. Put simply, God's doors are open to all who will enter in. His arms are big enough to embrace everyone.

For Rodo, it's all about communication. She believes music is special, spiritual and is a language that cuts across many barriers. Most of the songs of the album have been written by Rodo and her ultimate desire is to write music that inspires people and helps them connect with the message she tries to convey. 'I really want people to listen to my songs and feel like they know me, like they understand why I do music. Music is beautiful and should be enjoyed. I wanted an album where people could listen to every song without skipping tracks, and I hope I have achieved that. I listen to the album a lot, and I can say every track is worth listening to. My songs inspire me too, and I have sometimes been accused of being my biggest fan'. The state of this passionate artist's heart is seen as her songs are heard. All songs stem from a deep relationship with God and a desire to see his will done in peoples lives, young and old.

As with any artist breaking out for the first time, the journey has not been easy, but Rodo has remained steadfast in the pursuit of her dream. 'In the final 6 months before the release, it seemed like everything that could go wrong actually went wrong. I was tired, drained, let down and dissappointed, broke, ill, but somehow I knew I could not afford to give up. I know that going through all this will one day be worthwhile - for me, my family, all my friends and fans and for similar artists who will come after me'.

Rodo is a new voice in a youthful generation who unashamedly delivers the word of God in music and bares her heart out to this generation. The passion, drive, and fire has never burned brighter. Each musical note and tune speaks to this unique artist's originality and it offers a new perspective in viewing music. Her style is bold, yet persuasive, compassionate yet challenging and it causes the listener to take an in-depth view at what lies within. Being familiar with youths and going through the same things they do, she brings a refreshing atmosphere to the UK music scene. We asked her, What is christian music? Her response: ' I really don't think there is such a thing, but I know that everyone attaches a different meaning to the term. For me, music is music, music comes from different places, and mine comes from a christian heart. I simply share my stories of my walk with God in the hope that people can get a message of hope and encouragement.

Rodo's ultimate desire is that these songs speak to you and enrich your life the way they have enriched hers. To us, Rodo truly is Real, Original, Daring and One of a kind. Her message to you in 2010 is loud and simple: 'DARE TO BE YOU, DARE TO DIFFER'. Read more on Last.fm.
