Nine Mile Island is an American Alternative band that formed in Richmond, Virginia, United States in 2007. Originally consisting of Glenn Rhodes (vocals), Ian Scott (vocals), Thornton Saffer (Guitar/Bass), and Chris Risch (Drums), they later adopted their lead guitarist, Ian Rowland, in 2009.

Their first self-titled studio album, Nine Mile Island, was recorded in the summer of 2011 by Pedro Aida with Detached Sound Recording in Richmond, Virginia. Randy LeRoy with Airshow Mastering mastered the album.

Nine Mile Island is heavily influenced by a variety of different sounds including Led Zeppelin, The Kooks, Pearl Jam, Sublime, The Beatles, Dispatch, State Radio, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, and Chevelle.
