When it came to composing and arranging her debut solo A SMILE IN THE MIND (with influences ranging among Todd Rundgren, Steely Dan, Carole King, Burt Bacharach, Ennio Morricone, and Francis Lai), Mary Edwards—to paraphrase Bacharach—thought "in terms of miniature movies".
