As a lyricist, he draws liberally from literary influences that include Southerners like Peter Taylor and Walker Percy. Moore's resume includes ten years of songwriting work on Nashville's Music Row. His songs have been recorded by Ricky Scaggs, Alabama, and Kathy Mattea. His independently released solo debut, Departure, appeared in 1992. Four years later in 1996, Moore's follow-up effort Delta Moon was picked up by Tangible Records.
