George Hughes is a singer/songwriter in an acoustic-alternative vein. He started playing guitar and singing around the age of seven. His mother, who was a country singer in Texas, staged his musical upbringing. She introduced him to the music of Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, John Coltrane, Nat King Cole, Muddy Waters, Bobby Womack and Son House.

In October of 1999, he released a vocal/acoustic guitar EP entitled "Lunch with the
Monks". Then in January 2003, he finished a full-length CD called "If it's alright with
you..." This was kind of a tailspin from the last because it was a heavier more
orchestrated project. In 2004, he appeared on the Shut Eye Records compilation, Buzzlighter 7 that was in rotation on college radio stations around the country. His last solo effort was the EP entitled "Daze B 4" which came out in January 2009.
