Bintangs are a Dutch rock 'n roll / rhythm 'n blues band from the IJmond region of The Netherlands (from the town of Beverwijk to be precise). Established in 1961 by 16 year-of Frank Kraaijeveld and his younger brother Arti, Bintangs are one of the oldest Dutch bands still performing and recording today, although there was an official break-up along the way: they split up in 1983, reforming in 1989.

A Bo Diddley cover, 'You Can't Judge A Book By Looking At The Cover' was their first official single in 1966, with their first LP coming out in 1969: Blues on the Ceiling. The band released many studio albums, with some of the earliest ones still being regarded as their best and most famous, notably Travelling in the U.S.A. (1970) and Genuine Bull (1975).

Bintangs underwent many line-up changes of the years. Even the man who was always there (Frank Kraaijeveld himself wasn't always there: he left the group in 1972, rejoining the roster in 1974. Some of the most prominent members over the years were Jan Wijte, Jack van Schie, Peter de Leeuwe and, particularly, vocalist Gus Pleines (1948-2007), who was the band's front man from 1966 to 1983 and again from 1989 to 2004.

Bintangs are still recording today, with the album These Hands coming out in 2021. It was expected to be their final album, but much to the surprise of Bintangs fans the band announced yet another album in late 2024: Heroes, Beggars and Kings, Frank Kraaijeveld's first album as an 80-something.
