There are two artists with the name Geography:
1) Melbourne-based indie project
2) Indie rock band from England.

1) Geography is a project created by Melbourne based artist Georgia Smith. Soaked in a bedroom pop haze, the music is a thread between two worlds of Georgia’s small hometown Guyra and Melbourne. The songs come from trying to conjure hope; musing love, friendship and the sky. Geography is balancing act of vulnerability and playfulness.

2) Since their inception in fall 2001 Geography has created and distributed aggressive music that is as piercing as it is frail--a nod designed to eviscerate. The band is currently made up of the founding members: bassist/vocalist Jonathan Ahn, guitarist/vocalist Joshua Emery, guitarist/vocalist David Rath, as well as new coming drummer Thomas West. Their forthcoming release “Life In Binary” (produced by Jeff Briel of Sadaharu) is also the first to feature Joshua Emery in the primary role of vocal excursions--proving to be a new and welcome spin on the band’s ever-evolving sound.

Geography has forged an individual style by focusing on elements of indie rock and the noisier side of hardcore rather than any metallic or nostalgic leanings. The band’s propensity for experimenting with rhythmic syncopation lends an aspect akin to math rock while their attention to melody pulls the sound away from being indulgently technical.
