Jennifer Kelly Vergara Flores, better known as JEY FLORES, was born and raised in the city of Montreal. At the age of 23, JEY has taken over all venues in the Montreal area, performed in Switzerland at Europe's most prestigious TV Award ceremony "La Rose D'Or", and has also performed in New York City.
Jey first started singing at the tender age of 2, to songs from Michael Jackson and Billy Joel. At 8, Jey wrote her first original song called "Respect".
Coming from a Filipino descent, born into Montreal culture and adding Latin American influence in her life, JEY has managed to integrate a different style to her music. JEY's father was the lead singer and bassist in a rock band called "Mother Nature's Sons" and he always had JEY listen to psychedelic Rock, classical Rock, old R&B and Soul. At a young age, JEY spent time visiting Venezuela, and was influenced by Salsa, Tambor, Merengue, Bachata and Reggaeton. Living in Montreal, of course influenced and sparked her taste in House and Electro music.
A few years later, at 13, Jey received her first recording offer. This marked the beginning of her professional musical career. Even at this young age, Jey knew and understood the harsh reality of the entertainment industry. Never missing a beat, when her first contract ended not barring the expected results, she jumped right back into the scene.
Filled with emotional and professional turmoil, her teenage years were focused on developing her writing and performance skills. In 2005, her hard work finally paid of, when she opened for one of today’s biggest multi-platinum R&B group “112”.
In June 2006, while signed to Sizzle Records Inc., Jey released her first two reggaeton singles "Dale Papi" and "Toma Mi Fuego" worldwide, on a compilation entitled "Reggaeton Flava".
With the maturity and savviness of a well roaded artist, Jey joined the Von J Entertainment roster in 2007. With Von J, Jey launched her first international promotional effort in May 2008 in Switzerland where she hosted the first episode of “Views of the World” ( a ZGA Films & Television Corp. & Von J Entertainment Production). Also, she worked with top 20 Billboard chart producer X8 Music/DJ Aligator X.
With Von J Entertainment, Jey has collaborated with many artists, including Tony Dez. She was featured on his debut single "El Macheteo" released in summer 2008 and is now in stores online, on iTunes!
Over the course of her career, Jey has worked with producers from Montreal and Europe including BEATMASTER Productions (Montreal), ESCO SOUNDS (EMI Germany), and is now currently working with Ben Real (Montreal), Dizzo Productions (Montreal) and The Melody productions (Germany).
In April 2009, Jey partnered with rapper Ill Mestizo and producer Dynasty to create their own independent record label called Penny Pockets Records - a movement that has gotten people talking. [Read blog above on PENNY POCKETS RECORDS].
Her up and coming EP titled "Because I Can", is scheduled to be released in Summer 2009.
