There are two bands called Black Chrome:

1) An Australian punk band
2) A band from New Zealand

1) Black Chrome are an Australian punk band from Adelaide, South Australia, believed to be the first punk band in the city. Formed in 1975 by Simon Stretton, Simon Dillon, and Andrew Griffiths, they were ignored by radio presenters, but released the single "Australia's God"/"We Are Tomorrow" on Stretton's label Tomorrow Records in 1978. The Internet revived interest in the band around 2000, and they became regarded as a cult band. They reformed in 2010 and as of December 2024 continue to play punk. They released the album Age of Rage in 2018. Stretton had a career as a judge before retiring in May 2024.

2) Black Chrome formed in 2004 after Wolfgang and Slav von Chrome hooked up with Jimmy Snuff on bass. Their first show was at Valve, for some wonderful persons' birthday party.

Soon they were gigging regularly in hometown Palmerston North and Wellington. They hooked up overseas contacts thanks to the worldwide Turbojugend and toured Europe in 2006. They've been interviewed in Maximum RocknRoll, have made their own tour of Europe film and now have a wicked website. It's grey, just like the gutter they crawled out of.

In 2007 they played at the first Deathpunkfest and gigged regularly around the Lower North Island. New guitarist J. Corpse was added in July 2007, which rounded out their sound. Jimmy Snuff moved overseas in early 2008 and roadie Ben was called in to play bass and cheesy Lemmy poses.

And so we have the current lineup :

Von Chrome - Drums/Vocals
J.Corpse - Guitar/Vocals
Ben - Bass/Vocals


So far in 2010 they have played support to the Vibrators and are looking forward to playing Deathpunkfest in Gisborne.
