Ertug Ergin was born on 18 May, 1970 in Istanbul. The second of five boys, he grew up in Erenköy and Kadiköy on the Asian side of Istanbul. Later, he studied classical and traditional Turkish music as well as western music and took singing and instrument courses at the Istanbul Technical University Conservatory. After graduation, he immediately started his professional musical career.

Over the last 16 years, he has gained experience on the stage by accompanying Candan Erçetin, Sibel Tüzün and Harun Kolçak with his backing vocals and playing the flute. In addition to playing the classical flute, Ertug also plays the guitar, ney, accordian, baglama, and some piano. He has written hit songs for Hande Yener, Emre Altug, Askin Nur Yengi, Ufuk Çakir, among others.

Ertug released his debut CD, Hayatim, in 2005 on the Istanbul Plak label. Produced by MFO’s Fuat Güner, the CD contains ten songs, eight being Ertug’s own compositions. He wrote all the lyrics on the CD.

In August 2007, he went back into the studio to begin recording his second CD, his first on the MESS Production label. The CD contains twelve songs that showcase his unique sound, all which were written by Ertug. Included are new arrangements of two songs, Sensiz Yasarim and Hirsiz Safaklar, from his previous CD and Yola Devam, the hit song he wrote for Hande Yener. There is also a bonus track, a remix of Insan titled Mymoon (Insan Remix). The CD features some of Turkish music’s greatest people like Hakan Caneroglu and Genco Ari. It has undertones of rock and jazz with a techno/electronic flavor. Its powerful melodies prove that popular music can be produced without compromising quality. Read more on Last.fm.
