From the Dirtboys' myspace:
Who are the dirtboys?!? The ‘dirtboys’ are all working class musicians, each addicted to the powerful drug that is music; the medicine for the soul. Except for Johnny, who decided in 2005 that working was overrated. JohnnyFedX, really J.P. Hodge, has been writing songs prolifically for the last 10 years. The band members had been playing off and on for about 3 years, for friendly fun only, until a batch of home recordings found it’s way into the hands of many excited new fans. Enough to make voice of itself throughout the local artistic community, and various points of the country where the music has been introduced. Specifically Lake County California, south Alabam, Winnipeg and Quebec Canada, Pheonix Arizona, Austin and San Angelo Texas, Portland Oregon, and of course all along the eastern Rocky Mountain Range, up to Wyoming. Now, with the upcoming release of the new first album, "dirtboys 2007," mastered by the Grammy award winning Airshow Mastering studios of Boulder, CO, the dirtboys music will certainly be made available to many more listeners. Maybe even you. -Dayton ‘Daytron’ Hicks, of Dothan, Alabama, stands tall as the bands bass guitarist. His solid lines and funky licks are vital to the 'Sublime-styles' and rhythm based songlist of the dirtboys. Tron is also bass player for myspace favorites "Miss Anne Marie." -Miles Conan Roth, scholar, world explorer, US army veteran, guitarist, drummer/percussionist, renaissance man. Miles is a future congressman and has the ability to utilize his own, personal, photographic memory. He plays many parts for the dirtboys band, including band manager. Show me the money! -John Paul Hodge, from Upper Lake, California - A.K.A.: JohnnyFedX Soul Rebel, singer/songwriter, drums, guitars, percussion. Our idols played with their souls exposed. They showed us the escapes to far away dreamlands, and carried us back to the safe little beds in our heads. The music led us, shouting "Soul Power!" with Albert King and James Brown, equality between Lennon&McCartney, power of Pantera, Bob Marley's real situations, Outkast and Outlaws, Alice in Chains, Hank I, II, and III, Talking Heads, Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, theBand, Funkadelic, Sublime-styles, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, etc... We have all walked the same path of time, using the power of music to help us through, and we all appreciate the good music for the good life. This is what we offer to any and every open ear, real songs from the soul.'
