Hazee is an artist coming from the city of Deva in the western part of Romania. He started collecting music during the 90’s and got more and more attracted by getting himself involved in the local music scene that was by that time in its early stage of development. His musical roots are connected with grunge, britpop, trip hop and electronica in the veins of Leftfield, Global Communication, FSOL and Aphex Twin. On the way he discovered jungle through Goldie and Adam F’s first albums and dub/reggae through a bag of records donated by some generous people in Lille. Circa 2000 he collaborated with the rock group Bio.Dome with whom he recorded a few demos and played several gigs as a sample/scratch dj. Around 2002 the group split and the decision to start mixing came naturally. The real kickstart as a dj was at TM Base festival 2002 (Timisoara), the only electronic music festival in the country by that time. In the following years he got gigs in the most important cities all over Romania at festivals and clubs and occasionally in Hungary and Germany.

A positive attitude and uplifting selections which had funky and dubwise infusions across the musical genres generated a busy diary and a solid guarantee for good times. Radio shows, festivals, big raves, clubs, small pub parties or corporate anniversaries were all added to the gig list. While in the beginning his sets were concentrated around drumandbass, the past 3 years brought a different approach and a slower tempo. His passion for dub inspired music resulted in DUB Predatorz – a decks’n’fx project since 2006 alongside Rapala. From a Hazee set you can expect to hear nowadays anything from idm and dub techno to tropical broken beats, funk, electro and dubstep with mashups, vocal samples and Balkan episodes. In his eclectic or genre specific selections (which can be both dub/reggae/dubstep and breakbeat/funk) you’ll find timeless classics, the freshest releases and a lot of forthcoming material.

After founding High Definition Music and moving to Belgium in the second part of 2008 he decided to focus more on the label and get more into music production. His first attempt, a deep dubstep tune resulted from his collaboration with German producer Hiten, was released in 2008 and will be followed by a remix EP in 2009.
