2014 New equipment to the studio has led to new sounds here in 2014. Some of the new music sounds are associated with foreign languages and instruments and often needs a second listen. I often think there is an evolution to music as time changes. This first recording was an over attempt at learning as I recorded so was pretty ambitious. It could be considered New Age Music or Ambient I suppose. It is called On The Banks Of Ibiza, an island off the coast of Spain. The music is under a new name which is Michael The Horse. I spent the first few weeks of 2014 putting this recording together. Hope you enjoy. Thanks to all new and old Jango fans for your support. Michael 2013 The Ibanez Gio has been a great addition to the studio and was used in the music as of late. I still have hopes for later this year to make other additions, mainly an acoustic electric guitar, and upgraded sound equipment and processors.
I will continue to update this newsletter occassionally from time to time when anything new arises. MC

Pleasant music works to cultivate one's temperament, to
purify one's mind, and to deliver a sense of beauty. But has it ever occurred to
you that the creation of music was originally intended as a medicine to
cure? The origin of music can be traced back to the creation of
Chinese characters by Cangjie (2650 B.C.), a legendary figure in ancient China.
The Chinese character "Yao," which means medicine, is derived from the character
"Yue," which means music. The character Yao is composed of two parts: a radical,
meaning grass or herb, and the character for music. In addition to carrying the
meaning of medicine or cure, this character can stand for music itself,
happiness, or enjoyment. Music is therefore the ancestor of medicine. Cangjie,
according to one legend, created the Chinese character Yue based on an historic
event, in which Huangdi (Yellow Emperor) defeated Chi You (war deity). In
ancient China, soldiers commonly beat war drums on the battlefields to inspire
their bravery and gain the advantage. After the fight between the Yellow Emperor and Chi You,
the beating of the war drums knocked Chi You's soldiers unconscious. To cure the
defeated soldiers, the merciful Yellow Emperor created a metal object in the
shape of a bell, which is now called a musical instrument. The middle of the bell-type metal was made of bronze,
tied to silk strings on both its sides; the metal object was placed on a wooden
frame to play. Based on a shape of seal characters, an ancient style of Chinese
calligraphy, the middle part of the character Yue is "Bai," which means white
and symbolizes metal—one of the five elements. The ancient Chinese believed that everything in the
universe, including the human body and even sound, was composed of the five
elements of metal, wood, water, fire and earth. Of the five elements, metal
corresponds to the color white. Cangjie invented the character Yue based on this
bell-type metal. For what purpose was the metal object created? It was used to
evoke a spirit from the dead, or to call back the souls of Chi You's soldiers.
According to legend, after the war, Chi You's soldiers were lying on the ground,
stunned by the war drums. Once their souls were healed, the soldiers came back
to life.Music, therefore, was used for healing. Later, herbs were
found to contain healing effects, and one radical was thus placed on top of
"Yue" to become "Yao." As a result, the primary purpose of music in ancient
China was to cure people of illness.'
Michael Condon was born in 1954 in Cincinnati Ohio. He lived there until 1978. He is now based in Florida since 1980. The first sound of music Michael heard was “Bye Bye Blues” by Les Paul and Mary Ford back at the tender age of maybe 6 or 7 in 1960 at his home in Cincinnati Ohio.

He grew up loving to make music with his first drum set. A set of Remco Compacts he received one year for Christmas. He played them till they wore out. Michael used to practice drumming on the side of the bed with the plastic sleeves from vinyl records as they seemed to give him the sound of a snare drum. He purchased his first organ about the age of 18 and continued with various keyboards over the years. The first synthesizer he purchased was the ARP Odyssey. Later he purchased a Korg Mono Poly Synth. Michael’s early influences were bands like The Who, ELP, Rush, Genesis, Yes, Pink Floyd.

Later in life he continued to play the drums while stationed at Carswell Air Force Base in Texas. It was at that time he went to the music shop and started tinkering with the piano; which in previous years he had owned many various keyboards and played them while growing up.

During the Air Force time he had played as some patrons would stop by and listen to him lay down some of his songs.

Later he was hospitalized (1980) at the local hospital after being injured and played the piano while in Sheppard AFB Texas. He was told by a doctor he sounded like a professional at that time.

He played the drums with various garage bands in Tampa Florida in later years.

Recent influences are Medwyn Goodall , Terry Oldfield, and other New Age artists.
