There are two bands known as Last Straw:

1. Formed on the Isle of Wight in the Early 70's the band consisted of:

Jack Charles Toole - Drums
Peyte Burnan - Guitar/vocals
Geoff Taylor - Guitar/Keyboards/Lead Vocals
Steve Griffin - Guitar/Vocals
Phil Truckel - Bass

With more than a nod to Wishbone Ash and Lynryd Skynryd, they combined highly melodic guitar based music with almost Tolkeinian lyrics such as on Alone on a Stone.

The band toured extensively playing at such venues as Portsmouth Polytechnic, The Corn Dolly in Oxford and regularly at the Prince Consort in Ryde on the Isle of Wight.

2. Formed in Molde, Norway around 1990. Last Straw was one of the first bands in Norway playing positive hardcore punk also known as posicore. The bands only release was the solemn «Demo 90» tape. Together with the Gain demo, an important landmark of the new breed of norwegian hardcore that came to dominate the nineties. Despite only playing shows in and around their hometown the band also acquired recognition elsewhere. Members from Last Straw later continued in more well known bands such as Onward, Amulet, Contention and DIEDIEDIE.
