Merovingian is the coming together of Metal, inspired melodies, progressive and original sounds. The band was originally formed in North Yorkshire, mid 2006, when James Carrol and Andrew Jeffery were a little sick and tired of the music that was coming out of our area, so they decided to work together. Soon after this original forming the band came across Tom Wilding, who was originally a bassist for the Popes of Pogles Wood, this union meant that the serious process of making songs could begin. With the arrival of Tom Wilding came the decision of a name for the band, and that name was Twilly, however, after some thought the band took on the name Merovingian. In order to properly progress the band needed a singer, and this talent was found in one Jack Sankey, also previously in The Popes of Pogles Wood.

Merovingian has now completed several songs, such as "A Heart felt lie" and "Obliterate". Also, Merovingian has recently competed in a local battle of the bands where ten bands were playing and come second (which isnt good enough but oh well). After playing the battle of the bands, the band felt that the music was lacking something, and it was time to bring in another guitarist in order to give our music that extra something. This was found in Jon, who tried out for Merovingian mid way through 2007, and not only was he blown away by the band, but the band were also extremely impressed with him as well. Thus the completion of Merovingian had been attained!

Merovingian gather their inspirations from all walks of the music industry, because each of our members brings a different taste and opinion to the mix.
