Jean-Philippe Rykiel taught himself piano as a child. He was BORN BLIND in 1961. Theolonius Monk was a big inspiration but more so the work of PIERRE HENRY with synthesizers. He is a grand master of the synty and electronic music, displaying an intuitive and insightful exposition of all he does. 1992 co-created "Eyes Open" for Youssou N'Dour, finally with the worldwide hit album "Wommat/The Guide" in 1994 they achieved fame. 1994 he arranged and performed "The Lama's Chant" an album of Tibetan prayers sung by Lama Gyurme. "The Lama's Chant" went GOLD in Spain and populare worldwide and lately "Rain Of Blessings/Vajra Chants", a new collaboration with Lama Gyurme released in March 2000.
