There are at least two German music groups named Die Firma:

1. Die Firma is a German hip-hop group that was formed in 1996. The members are Daniel Sluga (also known as Fader Gladiator), Ben Hartung (also known as Def Benski Obiwahn), and Alexander Tarboven (also known as Tatwaffe). Before the formation of Die Firma, Sluga operated the label Blitz Vinyl, which also released material by Hartung as part of the group ÄI-TIEM. Sluga was additionally active with the crew C.U.S. Hartung and Tarboven had already collaborated in a project named Das Duale System prior to forming Die Firma.

The group released their debut double album "Spiel des Lebens / Spiel des Todes" in early 1998 through their self-established label LaCosaMia. The album received positive critical reception and achieved commercial success, marking their breakthrough in the German hip-hop scene. The single "Kap der guten Hoffnung" brought them broader public attention. Subsequent albums such as "Das 2. Kapitel", "Das Dritte Auge", and "Krieg und Frieden" were also successful, with their second studio album selling around 80,000 copies.

Die Firma describes their musical concept as "Lyrics über Beats repräsentieren Gut und Böse" (lyrics over beats represent good and evil). This theme of dualism, inspired by concepts such as yin and yang, is a recurring motif throughout their discography. Their songs explore topics such as love, war and peace, fears about the future, and competitive rap tracks. One of their most well-known songs is "Die Eine" from the album "Spiel des Lebens", which, like Coolio's "C U When U Get There", is based on Johann Pachelbel’s "Canon in D". A continuation of the song, titled "Die Eine 2005", appears on the album "Krieg und Frieden".

2. Another group called Die Firma originated in East Berlin in 1983 under the name Firma Trötsch. It was founded by Frank Trötsch Tröger and remained active until 1993. The band was part of the underground punk scene in the former German Democratic Republic (GDR) and went through various lineup changes over the years. Notable former members include Paul Landers and Christoph Schneider, who later became members of Rammstein.

Over the years, the band's lineup included Tatjana Besson (vocals, bass, later joined Freygang), Frank Tröger (vocals, keyboard), Key Pankonin (guitar, vocals, later joined Ichfunktion), Lothar Greiss (drums, later played with Weiterverarbeitung, The Waste, and Mind Raiders), Faren Matern (vocals, bass), Paul Landers (guitar, later joined Feeling B and Rammstein), Christoph Schneider (drums, later joined Rammstein), Richard Kruspe (guitar, later in Orgasm Death Gimmick and Rammstein), Uwe Gilbert (guitar), Christoph Zimmermann (bass, later in Hard Pop), and Thomas Schreiber (drums).

In 1990, after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Die Firma was invited along with other former GDR artists to the Élysée Palace by French President François Mitterrand. Later, it became publicly known that Frank Tröger and Tatjana Besson had been unofficial collaborators (Inoffizielle Mitarbeiter) for the Ministry for State Security (Stasi). Read more on Last.fm.
