In 1998, Atilla signed into eye doctor Erol Köse's new record label and released his debut album Kırmızılım. The album was an instant success and sold many copies throughout Turkey. The album's first music video was a pop version of the Turkish folk song Ham Çökelek which became a large success. Atilla Taş was selected the best artist of the year by Turkish television station Kral TV. Erol Köse was selected the best new producer of the year. During this time, Atilla married his college girlfriend İlkay. In 1999, Atilla released a remix album to his debut. Kırmızılım Remixes included Pop, Soul, and Techno remixes of the original songs on the album. A music video was filmed for Kırmızılım Remix and was also a big hit. Atilla Taş was at the height of his success. In 2000, unlike the success of his debut Kırmızılım and his Kırmızılım Remixes, his second album Emmilenyum did not get as much attention. The songs on this album did not have the dance beats and effects of Kırmızılım, but instead the album had more slow songs like Nerelerde. The songs did not recieve much airplay and album sales were very low. During this time, Atilla divorced his first wife İlkay. In 2001, Atilla released his third studio album Pembeli. The songs Bir Japona Aşık Oldum and Pembeli was a large success. Atilla had gone back to his original style of music. His first music video for the album was the song Pembeli. The shots taken in the music video were taken similar to the music video of Kırmızılım Remix. The second music video was taken for the song Elin Kızı which was criticized as "the cheapest music video on the market." It was taken in one setting where Atilla sang his part of the song and the woman in the music video stood still. Afterwards, the woman in the music video sang her part and Atilla stood still. The video had little succeess. Although it didn't have the success of Kırmızılım, Pembeli was considered a successful album by Atilla Taş. Atilla announced that he was taking a break from his music career.
[edit] 2004-2006: Low album sales and Drug Abuse
In 2004, Atilla Taş released his fourth studio album titled Kınalı Kuzum. The album was released one week before Turkish pop singer Mustafa Sandal's İste album. The success of the song İsyankar released at about the same time lowered the sales of Kınalı Kuzum. Atilla Taş did not recieve the sales counts he was expecting from this album and as a result he went into a police station and announced that he had been using Narcotics[1]. Not knowing what to do, the police decided to keep watch on Atilla. They also reccomended that Atilla should go to Anatem Hospital for therapy. Atilla refused. He wanted to be treated like he was an ordinary person. Atilla was taken to court and later proven innocent. After low sales continued, Atilla's manager announced that Atilla had done this for attention. He had never used Narcotics or any other drugs. After this did not recieve much attention, Atilla broke down and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
[edit] 2007: New Album
In 2007, after a long break from his career, Atilla announced that he was working on a new album. He announced that the album would be called Bir Atilla Taş Albümü ("An Atilla Taş album") and his first music video would be for the song "Hoşgeldin Hayatıma" ("Welcome to my Life").
