The Lost Concept in musical terms finds themselves in that grey area between hard rock and metal infusing the styles they love with heavy chaotic music but still with passion and intense melodies. Hailing from the small town of Eagle River, Alaska, The Lost Concept is relocating to Tulsa, Oklahoma in the fall of 2007. With influences ranging from Killswitch Engage to Blindside, probably the biggest influence to the band is Alaska’s 36 Crazyfists. “We have always done our own thing, but we can’t deny the influence 36 has had on us”, Zach Gall says, ”We’re really out there to make our own sound and play what we like.” The Lost Concept really is not defined under any specific sub-genre having guitar riffs and melodies that range from metal-core sounds to more progressive rock sounds. They have come to define there sound as “Ravaging Tornadoes of Destruction with a pinch of Harmonious Embers of Beauty…but mostly ravaging tornadoes of destruction”.

Formed in the summer of 2004, The Lost Concept formerly hailed under the name “Faceless”. In the winter of 2007, realizing the lack for a more original name, they decided to change the band name. Like most bands they have gone through a couple member changes but have always continued to progress through the changes. “We love to write music and have always had a problem of writing to much to keep up with”, Aaron Sadler explains, “Our sound from when we started to now definitely has progressed but we really feel we have matured and have found our sound as a band.” The Lost Concept put out a 7 song EP in the fall of 2005, a full length album in 2006 and a 5 song EP the summer of 2007.

The band has always been about touring and doing shows. They have toured all over Alaska and have a gained a solid fan base, done a small tour in the continental US, and have even done a small international tour in Germany and Turkey for troops and locals alike. “We have always been about getting out there and doing what we love and at the same time sharing our message to people by our actions” Benny explains, “The Lost Concept means that allot of people have lost the concept of life and the hope that is in the love of God.” The Lost Concept lyrics deal with many issues ranging from political, to dealing with forgiving yourself and life issues, to what they feel about religion and hope. “It’s hard for people to understand that we can be heavy chaotic music and yet our lyrics and message can be so positive. I think allot of what people don’t understand is metal and heavy music isn’t all about raging and anger, but allot of it is about passion and standing for what you have to say.” Zach explains, “And by all means that is exactly what we intend to do.” Read more on Last.fm.
