bigtunes is the outlet for creative ramblings and expression of the mind of dj dave bass. Ever since being touched by Afrika Bambaata´s PLANET ROCK, Dave has been addicted to electronic music. It was almost impossible to get anything besides reggae in his native Jamaica at that time. This changed the moment he moved to Munich in 1982. DAF, KRAFTWERK, DEPECHE MODE, SOFT CELL and all the other synth pop bands of that era led to fanatic collecting of vinyl. It was during a visit to London that Dave heard a mixtape of DJ JAZZY JEFF and decided to take the next step. Become a dj..... In February, 1986 dj dave bass made his debut and hasn´t stopped since. His style evolved to more uptempo genres like house and techno where he has stayed to this day. After years of mixing and promoting events, Dave decided in 1997 to return to Jamaica and start a small label, BIG TUNES. Jamaica however was not ready to accept electronic music and led to Dave leaving for South America in 2000, touring Brasil, Argentina and Uruguay. In October 2001, Dave once again returned to Jamaica full of new ideas where he started to produce new tracks. This got sidetracked when he started working with local singers and mc's creating more downtempo stuff which were released randomly on various labels and in compilations. Music in general, was put on pause when he got married and his daughter Lauren was born. In 2005 Dave started creating new material which will be launched in 2006 to celebrate 20 years of electronic obsession.
