Kuba Stankiewicz (born December 7, 1963 in Wrocław) is a Polish jazz pianist and composer. For many years, he has held an undisputed place among the best Polish jazz pianists.

Music career
He made his debut in the bands of Jan "Ptaszyn" Wróblewski and Zbigniew Namysłowski (1985-1987) – with the latter he performed, m.in, in the USA and Mexico, and recorded the albums Song of Innocence and Open. From 1987 to 1990 he studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston (diploma in piano) and traveled around the United States with the Artie Shaw Orchestra. He is the winner of the Oscar Peterson Award and a semi-finalist of the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition in Washington, D.C.

After returning from his American travels to Poland, he founded his own band. His original album entitled Northern Song was chosen as the album of the year in the readers' poll of the Jazz Forum magazine (1993). In 1994, the pianist received the Polish Radio Program III award – "Mateusz '94" for his creative achievements. Critics highly appreciated the albums of the Traveling Birds Quintet, co-created by Stankiewicz with Darek Oleszkiewicz, Piotr Wojtasik, Piotr Baron and Cezary Konrad. In addition, the musician has collaborated or is cooperating, m.in others, with Art Farmer (the album Art in Wrocław), Scott Hamilton, Harvie Swartz, Sheila Jordan and the international jazz band Central European Jazz Connection.

In 2013, his next album Kilar was released. The pianist heads the Department of Jazz Music and teaches piano at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław. In May 2009 he received a doctoral degree, and in 2016 a postdoctoral degree in the field of musical arts, artistic discipline – instrumental studies at the Instrumental Faculty of the Academy of Music in Wrocław.
