Born on the 23rd August 1981 in Lamego. She currently lives and works in Porto, one of the cities she holds very close to her heart. She is a lawyer, but she renders her life to law and music, something that has always inhabited her soul. By the age of thirteen she was the lead singer of Clepsidra, a pop-rock band. However, when she discovered Amália, Fado took over her life forever, as a rare love.

In 2011 Helena released her debut album, FADO AZUL (portuguese for “Blue Fado”). Most of the 13 tracks are classic or traditional fados that she sings with new lyrics, especially written for her and expressing the words she herself would write, the words she wanted to sing and convey. Fado Azul includes also two covers paying homage to major icons of the Portuguese music/culture and ineluctable references for Helena: Amália Rodrigues and José Afonso.

Helena believes in stars and in the strength of dreams. In the year that Fado is acknowl-edged by the UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Fado Azul will be released in France in February 2012 and will thus arrive in Germany, Austria, Benelux, Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, United Kingdom, Switzerland, USA and Japan.

Moreover, she promises to carry on working...hard.
