She never asked for presents for Christmas or birthdays. Even as a little kid DaniElle knew her vocation. All she wanted was lessons---dance, piano, vocal---and from the time she was three (dancing and singing On The Good Ship Lollipop to an audience of 750 in her first performance) it has been her good fortune to have grown up in an environment where festivals, amateur theatre, dance academies, eisteddfods, competitions and scholarships have all given her the opportunity to develop her talents, perform, entertain, learn and grow.

A Performance Scholarship in Drama and Music saw her go to the Illawarra Grammar School in the steel city of Wollongong, Australia. This was the city where she was born in 1987 to her American father and Australian mother. She grew up in Kiama, 40 miles south in a small coastal town.

With an American father, trips to the States were frequent to see relatives and friends in mostly Maine and California and do a little holiday travel as well. DaniElle even managed to sing at both L.A. and Florida Disneylands!

Her first recording contract offer was when she was 15. Other interest and offers followed for almost three years; but disaffected by what she saw happening in the music industry she decided that artistic control was what she wanted else, “Why do it?”

DaniElle moved to Sydney to live with her older brother, Andre, who was working and studying for a Graphic Design Degree. She was able to get gigs in Sydney clubs and also perform at special events and festivals. She also worked as a fashion house model for major Australian designers. This gave her the income that enabled her to put together her own album and film clip.

In the Sydney environment she caught the attention of many creative people who picked up on her confidence and vulnerability and her sultry and also sweet qualities. Producers, choreographers, photographers, fashion industry personnel who, impressed by her talent and drive, helped her enormously.

During these two years, DaniElle developed her sensuous, raw, earthy style. She was still natural and honest. She was still classy. And now, she was ready.

She decided to explore the larger overseas markets first and headed off to Cannes to the worldwide music conference, Midem. It was a fairy tale! DaniElle licensed her album and film clip to French label, Mediastore, in Paris. However, to cut a long story short, the Global Financial Crisis coincided and resulted in many postponements of publicity and performances. Finally, DaniElle requested release from the contract. She took time to learn from the experience and returned to Australia to do more writing and learn more how the GFC had changed the world and how much more the music industry had changed as well.

With her independent label, Lizard Ed Pty Ltd, DaniElle has decided to do it herself without licensing, but keeping full control of the process herself.

“In the future I also want to do a jazz covers album; mostly Cole Porter songs. I love all kinds of music. And why shouldn’t a singer perform in different genres? Actors do!“ says DaniElle realizing that she now controls a lot of what she can do!

“But one thing at a time!”

Now, with opportunities in the USA, DaniElle is pleased to be pulling many of those strings.

“ It may be a longer journey, yes, but a more rewarding path”, she says enthusiastically, “I just want to be able to make my living doing what I love most: writing and performing my songs to people who enjoy my music.” Read more on Last.fm.
