Alvin Lee of Ten Years After retreated to his barn studio with singer-songwriter and gospel performer Mylon LeFevre to record “On The Road to Freedom.” Guest musicians include George Harrison, Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi, Ian Wallace, Mick Fleetwood, Boz Burrell and Ron Wood.

It was recorded at Alvin Lee`s Space Studio in August 1973, apart from the song "So Sad", sessions for which took place at Harrison's Friar Park studio in nearby Henley-on-Thames.[1] The other standout tracks are "On the Road to Freedom", "Funny", "Carry My Load" and "Rockin' 'Til the Sun Goes Down".
