ORGATRONICS are a quartet of musicians who have created a novel soundscape. With a unique fusion of contemporary Latin-jazz styles, their sound is fresh and exciting. In their infectious performances the band combines lush textures, dynamic rhythms and great melodies to create a spellbinding live experience. The band’s debut album Moonfruit, which also featured the immense talents of Malcolm Strachan on trumpet and Dan Goldman on keyboards, was released to great press reviews in October 2005 and is receiving numerous airplays around the world. Tracks from the album have been released on several ambient and chill out compilations, both here and abroad, including the latest album from Café del Mar (Catorce). Since the release they have been constantly in demand, performing at festivals and clubs around the UK. Alongside original material their shows feature traditional Brazilian song structures and harmonies, which they overlay with a modern aesthetic, breathing new life in to familiar forms. Captivating vocalist, Emily Levy, sings in Portuguese, Spanish and English. Her expressive improvisational style brings both soulful melody and an ethereal feel to the unique Orgatronics sound. The band was originally formed by Sam Bell and Rich Arthurs who had played together for many years on the UK Latin Jazz scene. Renowned Conguero, Sam Bell also plays the cajon and an array of percussion instruments. As the rhythmic backbone of the group, his percussive performances are guaranteed to fill the dance floor. Celebrated guitarist, Rich Arthurs studied Spanish guitar and Jazz for many years which he now combines with electric guitar, samples and effects to create a diverse textural sound. Angus Crabtree plays the Tenor sax and wind-synth. He has a blistering post modernist style and an improvisational approach that is perfect complement to the other band members. Read more on Last.fm.
