Those who hear EbGb’s music have the same reaction. “Wow.” According to one blog, “Artists like EbGb are extinct in Hip Hip nowadays.”

Theres a special feeling that you get when you hear music that someone creates with all the passion, drive, and determination that they can muster. That goose-bump feeling that you cant shake for days. Listening to EbGb you can tell that there is something different. Something unique. Something special.

Ernie Bordon, better known as EbGb, has lived in many places but will always be a Floridian at heart. Eb was born in New Jersey, from New York, raised in Florida, lived in Michigan, as well as Massachusetts, but always seems to find his way back to Florida. Southwest Florida wasn’t exactly a breeding ground for the Hip Hop culture growing up, but Eb and his friends created their own. He started crafting his skills at the age of 13 by writing raps in school and rhyming with friends. It started off as a hobby, like most things, but turned serious very quickly.

Some of his favorite artists at the time like Big Pun, Bone Thugs n Harmony, and DMX influenced Eb to challenge himself and pursue a career in music. Big Pun’s debut album “Capital Punishment” (1998) was a major influence on Eb. Hearing someone command the english language in such a way that it creates vivid imagery and inspiration in others was the push that he needed.

At the age of 15, Eb met Nate Augustus (Rubee Jaw) who had a digital 8 track recording setup at this home that he was using for his own music. It was there that Eb began build his catalog. “I was prepared to record my first song with Nate before I had even seen his studio or heard his beats,” said Eb. They ended up recording Eb’s first song that day. Eb required no pen, no pad, and no paper. He had his rhymes memorized and molded to the beat before Nate could set it up for vocals.

Eb's tracks are a collective effort to test the boundaries and try new things. His tracks are a mixture of hard hitting and heartfelt lyrics with melodies and beats to match. Every song is completely unique in it’s own way. Eb is continuously experimenting with different sounds, styles, and samples. He'll use beats, drums, pianos, sax's and any other instrument that has the potential. Sampling anything from classical music, 70's rock, to new wave House music, if he hears it and it's dope, he'll flip it.

Creating a local buzz, Eb sold CDs at his High School to anyone and everyone, including Teachers. Music was all he wanted to do. Though and Honor Roll student, Eb’s mother will be the first to tell you, “He hardly ever brought a book home. Just his rhyme book.” Music became a way of escape for him. Opening up on songs about things he was going through, according to Eb, is “the greatest coping method.”

He began the recording of his 1st official full length solo album in 2003. Eb’s determination went into overdrive when he released the 19 track album “The Phantom of the Anthems” in February of 2004. Not having much of a national outlet at the time, Eb sold copies out of the trunk of his car all over Florida. “I did okay,” said Eb with a smile. “Nothing on sound-scan, but I didn’t care. Thats not what it was about for me.”

Working on various projects between the years of 2004 and 2009, EbGb also performed at venues along side artists such as Bone Thugs n Harmony, Pitbull, Snow, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Wu-Tang, Obie Trice, Wiz Khalifa, Paradime, Copywrite, Murdoc, Nas, Pharaoh Monch, Immortal Technique, and Jedi Mind Tricks to name a few. All along utilizing the emergence of the internet in the industry by releasing many new songs online to cultivate and maintain a following.

The release of his newest album “Circling the Drain,” in September of 2009 was on a much larger scale. It including guest features by ILL BILL, Copywrite, Paradime, and others. This project reached out touched many different audiences. You can find it on iTunes, Amazon and most other places you can buy music online. We quoted Eb saying, “Circling the Drain was my most personal album, packed with some of the most personal songs I've done thus far. I love it.” Currently, Eb is working on his next big release “The Black Light District” and shooting for a late 2011 release. “I’m too f***** excited about this album” Eb said when asked about it. “Your just going to have to wait and see..”

Eb is focused, laid back, exceedingly ambitious, dedicated, easy to work with and possesses unlimited stamina and talent. He puts all of his drive and ambition into every line of every song. This creativity and ability allows him to identify and build crowd rapport and as a result of his professional persistence, making his dream of becoming a household name a reality is not far in the future.
