Salsa Commodity began as a lunch menu item at Midlothian High School. It was suggested that it would be a good name for a band. Sanders and friends messed around with instruments for a year or so, and eventually himself, Michael Gunderson, and Josh Grubb settled down into a band. They played some shows and were loved by some.
