Official Bio
Over the years, Ricardo Clarke has been involved in and created much social, spiritual, community, youth and entertaining efforts, seeking to empower, uplift, encourage and enlighten humanity in the Bahamas. From his earlier days he grew up listening to Fred Hammond, Luciano and Frankie Paul ,which has cultivated his love for harmony, melody and instrumentation in music. Also, coming from a musical family, singing, song writing and composing music has become second nature to him and his love for meaningful and spiritual music has grown remarkably. He is quietly gaining a reputation for an acute musical ear as an artist and producer. He has been honored to share the stage, different events and work with local and international artists such as Jason Mighty, Monty G, Mr. Lynx, DJ Nicholas, Isaac Blackman, House of Riddim, No More Babylon Band and The Far East Band.
Recently, Ricardo has been enjoying a budding music career locally and has had his music aired on local, European and Caribbean stations. Ricardo has always been involved in the craft, however he has found himself unexpectedly in the forefront when his song "Last Days" became popular on local radio stations, and has enjoyed airplay in the Bahamas, Caribbean and London.
Ricardo Clarke is blazing a trail and encouraging all to follow him as his new song "Not Settlin" has become a hit and getting airplay on both secular and Christian radio stations alike. It is now evolving into a movement as people are incorporating the meaning of the song as a way of life, causing many to realize that they deserve and can achieve more and not settle for average.

Exclusive Interview with GospelReggae.com
GR: Tell us about yourself, where were you born and grow up, what your family is like, etc...

Ricardo: I was born in Nassau Bahamas and I'm presently living there. My parents had a full house with 3 boys and3 girls. We grew up learning the importance of family. Music was and is still a big part of who we are. My dad recorded and my mom sang and performed nationally at concerts. My sisters and brother either play or sing. Music has been all around me for years. I guess that explains the evolution.

GR: How did you begin doing music?

Ricardo: I have always been involved in choirs and was always in the background. From 2000 to 2002 I did back up for Christian Massive. I began my professional solo career in 2007. My solo career began by accident. DJ Counsellor was working on the Youth Alive Soundtrack and he had asked me to come by the studio so we can work on a song for it. Prior to this, I had never recorded as a solo artist or was featured in a song professionally. I did 3 songs that evening, including "Last Days"! It turned out to be the first single from that album and re-released on the album, Arch Angel Riddim Project.

GR: What is the most valuable lesson that you learned from your Mom or Dad growing up that you still apply today?

Ricardo: I've learned the dignity of hard work and having integrity in my personal and business dealings. This is what I treasure most from what has been passed on to me by my parents.

GR: If you could share the stage with any Christian or secular artist in the world (living or dead) who would it be?

Ricardo: I don't have a favorite but I love Fred Hammond. His musical talents have engaged me for many years and I still have his tapes! Performing with him would be awesome!

GR: I know that you have written a whole heap of songs in the past, but what's your favorite one? Now, if that is too hard for you to answer, then tell me this; if you spent 5 minutes with an avid reggae fan and only had enough time to play them one of your songs, which one would you play them?

Ricardo: Definitely too hard to choose just one but with 5 minutes I would let them listen to "Not Settlin". It's self explanatory.

GR: Read any good books lately?

Ricardo: Currently reading "The Audacity of Hope" by Barack Obama.

GR: As Christians, God is of course our true inspiration, but beyond the generic response of "Jesus," what are your muses in your life (for lack of a better word)? For example, what are the people, places, or things that trigger a fresh musical idea and ultimately a new song for you?

Ricardo: Honestly for me, there is no one way because art and inspiration are everywhere. I can vibe off anything if it moves me or if it moves people.

GR: Name one thing that fans do not know about you.

Ricardo: I don't watch much TV! I love comedy, when I do get some TV time. I love to laugh...I really do!
