Kenji's music is a marriage of his boundless musical choices, and is drawn through a culmination of his unique personal experiences. From the rampant hills of Osaka to the towering landscape in New York City, his music is born out of the vast changes of surroundings, and through an everyday reflection of life and self.

Kenji's pursuit of music began as an early teen when he felt an otherworldly connection to his sister's electric guitar that sat unplayed in his home. Actually, maybe it began at a much earlier age when he grew up listening to his family members (his mother, both of his older sisters, and his grandmother) play Chopin pieces on the piano everyday.

As a teen in the early 90's, Kenji was completely enthralled by American and British Rock 'n Roll, as well as the ubiquitous Alternative music on the radio at the time. During these days, he would come home from school, turn on the radio or MTV, and practice his guitar until bedtime.

As the dream of making music closed in on reality, Kenji became a serious student of Jazz when he met a very influential teacher at age 14. He continued this journey to learn, and to see what he could ultimately offer the world of music. He enrolled in the acclaimed Jazz Performance program at University of Miami, where he met some of the most talented young musicians plucked from all over the world. He shared a common vision with many of these musicians, and he continues to play and write music with them today.

Kenji currently resides in Brooklyn, New York, where he composes and plays the guitar. In addition to performing his own music, Kenji plays out regularly with various artists in New York.
