Eddie Lee Groves Musical Bio

Eddie Lee Groves was born in a small river town called Augusta, Kentucky at the Augusta Jailhouse. His Grandfather, Lovell Groves, was the jailer at the time and Eddie’s parents lived there. He was born with a love for music and grew up to the sounds of Buck Owens, Johnny Cash, and Merle Haggard, while beating around with a little toy guitar.

When Eddie Lee was about 10 or 11, his Grandpa Lovell brought back from Mt Sterling, KY Court Days Flea Market Festival an old beat up acoustic guitar that became his best friend. Eventually Eddie learned to pick around on that high action monster!

Eddie Lee Groves has been in and out of several bands so far in his life. A few made more of an impact on him than others. We always remember our first band. Groves’ was called “The Good Old Boys”. During the summer of 1980 “The Good Old Boys” played at many beer bashes in the Augusta area. The drummer had an old Flatbed Ford Pickup truck that Eddie and the band called the “Rebel Rouser” and they would just pull in a field, back yard, or where ever the party was and use that truck’s bed as a portable stage!

Eddie always played guitar in bands except for when he was a member of a band based out of Winchester, Kentucky called Uncle Lijah. Uncle Lijah was the house band for the former Dixieland Lounge in Winchester and Eddie held down the Bass position for the group. He spent several years in Uncle Lijah, but longed to get back to his Fender Telecaster.

Eddie’s current band, INSIDE OUT, has been together in one form or another since 1991, after he left Uncle Lijah. Inside Out has given Groves the opportunity to not only tour all over the US, but Inside Out has also toured overseas to perform for Military Troops stationed in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Korea, Turkey, Italy, and many more countries.

Eddie has also has the pleasure of sharing the stage with many of Country Music’s great stars. George Jones, Merle Haggard, Marty Stewart, The Charlie Daniels Band (who signed Eddie’s fiddle!), Alan Jackson, and the list goes on.
