YFC emerged from the early 80's Christchurch, NZ scene among such luminaries as The Gordons and The Builders. YFC (originally a pisstake of the religious organisation Youth for Christ, but the band were later forced to change their name due to legal action) were characterised by their 2 bass and drums line-up. In 1984 they travelled to Auckland to record their an EP which was released on the 'Hit Singles' label. Recorded by Flying Nun stalwart producer Doug Hood the EP was acclaimed as 1 of the best of the year. The track 'Leatherface' was a University radio favourite, but the band failed to capitalise.

Not long after this they drifted over to Sydney, Australia and eventually recorded material in the late 80's and early 90's under the name "Leadleg" (this time with guitars).

in 2005 Failsafe Records (http//www.failsaferecords.com) compiled the 6 tracks from the between two thieves EP, plus one outake from the same session and 9 live recordings of other unreleased songs into the ricochet album.

The band reformed to play concerts in support of the album although they had never officially disbanded, just stopped performing live.
