29-year old son-of-a-preacher-man, American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist Jon Lindsay was born in Portland, Oregon, and resides in North Carolina. He’s currently signed to Chocolate Lab Records and has two releases on that label: Escape From Plaza-Midwood and Magic Winter & the Dirty South. 2010′s Escape has been widely heralded as an arresting official debut LP with remarkable vision and originality. Performer Magazine called it “one of the best records to come out of the Southeast over the past decade”, and it has received countless endorsements from fellow artists, championed by Ken Stringfellow (Big Star, The Posies), Stuart Mclamb of The Love Language, and Snuzz (Ben Folds) among many others.

Lindsay’s songs are often meticulously sculpted and can span the gamut of pop and rock sonic textures; the constant threads being his unmistakable, sweet and acrobatic vocals, and his uncanny abilities as a lyricist and storyteller. Live and on records there are traces of his obsessions (Zevon, Elliott Smith, Guided By Voices, Morrissey), but never more than the slightest homage: he’s got more than enough to say about his own agenda, which is theatrical, full of showmanship and dynamics.

In the past, Lindsay has been involved with The Young Sons, Benji Hughes, Carlisle, The Catch Fire, and other acts. He currently tours with a full backing band, and also performs solo tours. 2011 will bring the release of Lindsay’s next solo LP Summer Wilderness Program, an LP of Christmas(ish) songs, and the debut LP Rumormill from his side-project, The Catch Fire.

Lindsay also scores musicals and writes music for film and television. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
