The Dry Sea (formerly the Dry Season) has existed in some form since 2007 but we have left very few signs of our passing. With Eromi Tlab we hope to change that. After our initial EP, we took some time to reform with a new guitarist (Eric Brightfield). Our old material became stronger than ever and some of the best examples of that are featured on this very album. Breastmilk begins many of our live shows and its driving intensity and melodic core serves a great sampler of what is to come. Montuno, another piece from the first EP, has been revamped and now soars as the post-rock ballad it was meant to be. With new blood in the group, also came a renewed interest in bringing in the many of our eclectic tastes. Singh Jangi (named for a dear friend of the band) is an attempt to bring our sound to the genre of bhangra, which as far as we know, has not received the psychedelic rock treatment. Fulci is of course named for the master Giallo film director Lucio Fulci and draws from the haunting music that frequently accompanied his films while still taking time showcase a bit of noise-metal. Danger also draws from our interest in film music but this time going the route of the great J.G. Thirwell and infusing it with punk-like intensity. The Patriot, which wraps up the album, is another ballad that takes as much from film music as it does writing in 3. Driven by a melody that only quits for a brief solo, it's the closest we have come to an anthem (not for the band, but perhaps some sort of rock and roll microrepublic). Read more on Last.fm.
