"Мы" is a Russian dream pop band. The group was founded in 2016 in Israel by Daniil Shaykhinurov, who discovered the talented singer Eva Krauze/Gurari (known online as fraukrauze) on Instagram and invited her to record a song together. Their first album, «Расстояние» (Distance), was released against the backdrop of their romantic relationship, but the couple soon broke up while continuing to work together.
The band gained popularity, but in January 2018, a tragedy occurred: student Artyom Iskhakov killed his ex-girlfriend and then took his own life, leaving a suicide note that quoted lyrics from their song «Возможно» (Perhaps). This event sparked public outcry and petitions to ban the group, although Daniil always denied any connection between the tragedy and their music.
In 2019, «Мы» announced their breakup, citing creative differences, though many believed the 2018 events were the real reason. In 2021, the band unexpectedly released a new album, «Новый Мир, Ч. 1» which received mixed reactions from fans—some welcomed the revival of the project, while others felt that the new material should have been released under a different name.
In November 2018, Eva ended her participation in the «Мы» project, launching a solo career under the stage name «Mirèle» and stating that she did not intend to continue working with Daniil. However, the band continued to exist even after her departure.
On May 6, 2020, an online concert took place featuring both Daniil and Eva. On August 13, 2021, the band released a new album, «Новый Мир, Ч.1», featuring seven new songs with the participation of a new member, Ksenia Shevchenko (stage name xenaex). On January 1, 2022, the newly formed duo released their next album, «Новый Мир, Ч.2».
At the beginning of that same year, Daniil announced the duo's breakup, after which both «Новый Мир, Ч.1» и «Новый Мир, Ч.2» were removed from all platforms, sparking dissatisfaction among fans.
On March 7, 2022, the duo, now with a new member, Dasha Ventu, released the song «Надія», their first track in Ukrainian, using lyrics from Ukrainian poet Lesya Ukrainka. The band later released several other Ukrainian songs in support of the Ukrainian people. On September 2, 2022, they released the album VENTUSHAKE, Pt. 1, followed by VENTUSHAKE, Pt. 2 on December 23, which was dedicated to the theme of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Read more on Last.fm.
