FIG is an artist seeking self-expression with a DIY attitude, indie pop/R&B singer FIG turns everyday activities and emotions into upbeat tunes and sob ballads. The NYC-based Malaysian artist began making music in high school, writing and recording snippets to share on social media when she was feeling alone. It wasn’t long before she started writing full songs, which she would design cover artwork for, while directing and editing music videos to accompany them.

This year FIG shared her debut project, BUD. "The meaning of BUD represents a safe space where I can express my thoughts and emotions away from the craziness of life," she explains. "It could be a big grassy field, at home or just metaphorically a calm place in my mind where I go to escape. I wanted to title this project BUD because it’s the first step of discovering myself as an artist and like a bud I’m still in the beginning stages where I haven’t fully bloomed to a flower.
