Homegrown in Smithville, Texas, Ben Tyler Johnson, son of Sandy and Hoyt Johnson and the youngest of four brothers, made a name for himself locally with his guitar and his vocals. Music came to him naturally and he began to teach himself how to play guitar and use his voice. Now at age 23 and with 5 years of guitar playing under his belt, his talent has developed into something extraordinary. Ben’s musical genre exemplifies Texas country/red dirt – a mix of country, blues, and rock – pure Americana. Ben Tyler Johnson’s Texas red dirt country roots live and breathe in his music. With his debut CD/EP release, BEN TYLER JOHNSON and The Hired Guns, Ben has reached new heights with his musical prowess. Along with other legendary talents from the likes of Brandon Rhyder, Honeybrowne, and Getocowboys, Ben’s new CD defines the edge of Texas Red Dirt Music – rock, country, blue grass, blues… As his fan base continues to grow, they continue to describe Ben’s music as something that just “pulls you in”, is “Bad A_ _”, gives you “goose bumps”, and as one particular demographic puts it, “if he is this good on stage, how good is he at other things?” His amazing vocal reach, incredible lyrical story telling and prose, skillfulness with an acoustic guitar, down home disposition with red dirt edge leaves fans and audiences feeling they have witnessed a newborn legend. With his smoking new tour band members, Brandon Beran – bass, Eddie Vogel – drums, and Vincent Bush – lead guitar, Ben’s unique sound can be seen and heard throughout Texas.
