Andrew’s musical education began at the age of nine, as a chorister and trumpeter. He’d always had an interest in writing music for film and began composing pieces for his local youth orchestra aged 17 and later for graduates of the London music conservatoires.

He gained a BA Hons in Music at the University of East Anglia and in 1996, won the PRS Sir Arthur Bliss Scholarship to study MMus Composition for Screen at the Royal College of Music London, under award winning film and tv composers George Fenton and Joseph Horovitz, graduating with distinction in 1997.

After RCM, he was employed as an orchestrator, arranger and conductor on several feature films, commercials and the SEGA Dreamcast game, Headhunter. In 1999, after composing original music for a short film TV pilot, The Briefcase Case, he was commissioned to compose original logo music (Cine Dimanche & Cine Mardi) for the French Television Channel TF1. The TF1 logos are still broadcast across France, several times a week.

In summer 2003, Andrew was offered his first feature film, 30 Miles. He composed, orchestrated and conducted the score in three weeks, recording in Sony Studios, Whitfield Street London with respected engineer Mike Ross-Trevor and principal members of the Philharmonia Orchestra.

Film scoring schedules are notoriously short and Andrew is sometimes asked to compose additional music for films such as Modigliani (2004), CashBack (2005), Dot.Com (2006) and The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey.

In March 2006, Andrew scored his next independent Hollywood Film Dark Corners, written and directed by Ray Gower, starring Thora Birch (American Beauty) and Toby Stephens (Die Another Day). The film has been screened to large audiences at Cannes and most recently at the prestigious AFI Festival in Hollywood, CA.

In addition to his film scoring commitments, Andrew has composed a symphony in four movements called Cinema Symphony, performed by the RSNO and conducted by maestro Jose Serebrier in June 2007.
