Fertile Reality started out in 1994. At first they made heavy doom-rock not unlike old SWANS while also mixing in influences of Hawkwind. But quite soon the music drifted to more new wave like terrories, and they started to sound more in the vein of bands like Joy Division, The Cure, And also the trees, and later on like Editors, Dragons or Interpol.

The band has a strong DIY attitude, and recorded and released one minialbum and four albums. They debuted in 1998 with the EP "Micro". One of the songs (The enthralment) made it to Dutch radio. In 2000 the debut album "The longfield battle" was released. Though produced poorly, the album got quite some attention.
A little breakthrough came in 2004 with the second album "The dune of the mill". The song "Justin time" made it into a favorite of many new wave lovers, and based on this album Fertile Reality got to play a opening show for The Mission and got to play at the Summer Darkness festival in the Netherlands.

The band was not satisfied with the quality of their own recordings, so in 2007 they entered a professional studio to record 8 new tracks and re-record 5 old ones in better quality. These tracks were released as the first full on CD "No moon at all". The albums and EP prior where all CDr or download. This album was released in 2008, and got the band opening shows for Cinema Strange, Mesh, Spiritual Front, and even one of the influences And also the trees.

In 2010 after writing 10 new tracks, Fertile Reality went fully professional with recording the new tracks at the Next-to-Jaap studio's in the Netherlands with producer Corno Zwetsloot. The albums was mastered professionaly and called "Wax and wane". With worldwide digital distribution, and a CD release, Fertile reality attempts to reach the next level.
