Nicholas Tyler Strunk (born January 16, 1990), known professionally as Nicholas Tyler, is an American singer, songwriter, recording artist, and entertainer. He began his music career in the early 2000s by independently releasing mixtapes and sharing music via online platforms such as MySpace and SoundCloud. Known for blending electronic, pop, and experimental sounds, Tyler has released multiple mixtapes and projects, culminating in his 2024 studio album Seattle Palm.

Early Life and Education
Nicholas Tyler Strunk was born in Holland, Michigan, and raised in Hamilton, Michigan, by his grandparents. He is the eldest of three children. From a young age, Tyler showed a passion for theatrical arts, performing in school choir, theater, and dance events. This early experience helped spark his interest in music.

Career

2003–2005: Early Mixtapes
Tyler released his first mixtapes—Nicholas Strunk (2003), The Real Me (2004), and Behind Closed Doors (2005)—under his birth name. These projects featured cover songs and were distributed locally on CD, promoted through school talent shows and word-of-mouth.

2006–2009: Original Work and Writing
In 2006, Tyler released The Long Road Ahead, which featured his first original track, "I Thought That You Loved Me." This led to more mixtapes—Anticipating (2007), Eye Candy (2008), and This Is Me (2009)—that combined original lyrics with cover songs. The mixtapes were promoted on MySpace, Soundclick, and via CD.

2010–2013: Name Change and Experimental Phase
In 2010, Strunk adopted the name Nicholas Tyler. In 2011, he released Schizo, an electronic-pop mixtape that he later described as “dated.” By 2012, he began experimenting with instrumental tracks by artists like Boards of Canada and Röyksopp, writing original lyrics and gradually producing full songs on his own.
In 2013, Tyler released Everything Comes From A Lie—his first entirely self-written mixtape lyrically—via SoundCloud. Previous releases all included cover songs on the CD's.

2014–2020: The Twenty Four Project and New Sounds
In 2014, he released Twenty Four, showcasing lyrical and production growth. The fan-favorite single “Faithful” stood out for its haunting ambient sound. After a health setback in 2015, Tyler took a break and later returned in 2016 with the single "High up in my Mind."
He began conceptual work on a new project titled Seattle Palm, inspired by a dreamlike cityscape. The project would evolve over several years, initially with producer Troy Clemens, before Tyler took over full creative control.

2022–2024: Seattle Palm Era
In 2022, work resumed on Seattle Palm in its final form. Several singles were released, including "Earth Moves Slowly" in 2024. The full album was released on November 22, 2024, commemorating the 21st anniversary of his first mixtape. A remix album is scheduled for summer 2025.

Artistry and Style
Tyler’s music blends electronic, pop, and experimental influences. His early work mixed original and cover songs, while his later releases emphasize ambient textures, lyrical introspection, and atmospheric soundscapes.
