Jay Conrad, the Dutch singer-songwriter & producer, writes and records music that began with an odd mixture between jazz, folk and Bertolt Brecht on his debut LP 'A Penniless Gentleman' (produced by Dani Klein, the leading lady of the Belgian superband Vaya Con Dios). Acid-electric colouring and seemingly dissonant chords, not unlike those used by Steely Dan, were prominent on his 2nd LP 'Steeltown Girls', which Conrad produced himself. 'Steeltown Girls' is now available on 'Last.fm'. 'A Penniless Gentleman' and its successor form a diptych in the concept of the lyrics. A subsequent trilogy of which the album 'Metromania' will be recorded this winter to be released only on the Internet. 'Exile' and 'Troubled Times' follow promptly. (This does not mean that Conrad applies prime numbers by recording series of albums, consisting of 2, 3, 5, 7 &c. until 101 LPs!)
