Moppa Elliott (* September 13, 1978 in Scranton (Pennsylvania) as Matthew Thomas Elliott) is an American double bass player and composer of Modern Creative.
Elliott first learned the piano and then changed to the trombone before switching to the bass at the age of 17 and receiving lessons from Tony Marino. From 1997 to 2002 he studied biology at Oberlin College and jazz bass at Oberlin Conservatory of Music. There he recorded his first CD, Pinpoint, with Charles Evans and others. After working at the Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Arts in Erie (Pennsylvania), he moved to New York City with his fellow student Peter Evans.

Since 2003 he has been writing compositions for the quartet Mostly Other People Do the Killing, which he founded and with which he has toured internationally several times. In the group Puttin on the Ritz he also sings on their album White Light / White Heat (2010). He also played with Jon Lundblom (Big Five Chord), Bryan Murray, Russ Kaplan, John White and Wildlife Control. He also worked with Jon Irabagons Outright!
