As-Salaamu Alaikum!
WELCOME! The "Verbal" is lyrical and the "Seed" is life, so now we have "lyrical life". VERBAL SEED! This Crew consist of three blood brothers (same mother & father). Lyricist Focus, lyricist/producer Oneself Salaam and lyricist Tree. Born and raised in the city of Waco, Texas with two members (OneSelf & Tree) residing in Dallas, TX. Raised on 60's and 70's soul music, Verbal Seed managed to find hip-hop in the early 80's. While listening to some of the best artists in their formative years, for example: Rakim, KRS-One, Public Enemy, Big Daddy Kane, Kool G. Rap, Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, N.W.A, Pete Rock & CL, Geto Boyz, UGK, Melle Mel, Cold Crush, D.O.C., Ice Cube, De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Common, Rass Kass, Biggie, Tupac, Nas, Jay-Z & many more. Verbal Seed formed their own sound through this music.
The oldest sibling Focus was more of an influence to his younger siblings Oneself Salaam and Tree. He looked toward his brother Oneself to start the duo "Verbal Seed" in 1993. During this time Oneself invested in music equipment and crafted his sound on the EMU SP1200. In 1997, through producing and going to school for music , Oneself met other MCs and musicians Butta Finga, Mony Mone, Symbolyc Elements (Myth and S1 from Strange Fruit Project). Focus, Oneself and these artist formed the super group "Third Eye Militia" and launched the Black Son Records label with Focus as CEO and OneSelf Salaam as President.
In 1999 the group's debut album "Buried Alive" sold a large amount of copies in an area where hip-hop was irrelevant in the Master P. era. With the group's success, members decided to work on individual projects. In 2001 Verbal Seed started working on their debut album "Something from Nothin". The Album was successful in the Central Texas area and establised Verbal Seed as a force. With the success of "Something From Nothing" they decided to add their younger brother Tree to the group. Fast forward to 2006, "Verbal Seed" is done with their sophmore album "Afronauts" (which also dropped in Japan on Nov. 16, 2005 on Handcuts/Universal) and ready to bless the world with a breath of fresh air. This incredible album features Strange Fruit Project, Illmind, Bavu Blakes, K-Otix, Kay (of Foundation), Chip Fu, Deloach, Dow Jones, Thesis and more. GUARANTEED SATISFACTION!!!
