The Neverminds is a shoegaze band from Toronto, Canada, formed on August 2022.
Their band consists of four people, Ginny Kim (vocal, guitar / @summertheblue), Ronan Kelsey (guitar / @ronankelsey), Vincent Hau (bassist / @thechinesecheese), Avi Franklin-Casseres (drums / @avifcdrum).
The Neverminds take influence from bands like My Bloody Valentine, Whirr, Glare, Julie, BrokenTeeth, Wisp, and Sonic Youth. The band is also inspired, both in terms of sound and visuals, from animes such as 'Evangelion' and 'Serial experiments Lain'.
While their debut EP, 'nevermind, the summer.' captured the melancholy, sentimental, and nostalgic feeling of summer and youth, their second EP, 'nevermind, the winter.' is a little more lonely and heartbreaking, capturing the feelings of winter, or a waking up from a sad dream you couldn't remember. In terms of sound, the dreamy and floating sound image of the debut EP has changed to a heavier and noisier 'shoegazy' sound. The two paired EPs also have links in terms of lyrics and visuals..
