VRKTM from Lousiville, Kentucky were initially formed in 2000 by Jason Lowenstein (Sebadoh), along with Jason Hayden and Dave Bird, who both played with Will Oldham a.k.a Bonnie 'Prince' Billy.

Initially, they were called Verktum but the band soon decided to remove the vowels from their name. VRKTM release a 5-song EP, 01, in 2003. The band released a full length, 02 on Jan 1, 2005. After which, the group released its second full-length, Excess/Defect in 2007, all on Noise Pollution. Read more on Last.fm.
