Esther Maria, British born songwriter and artist residence in Denmark, has been active on the Danish music scene as a solo artist since 2009.

In November 2012 she released her debut album “The Abyss”, recorded and produced in New York by the legendary and indie-producer KRAMER, who contacted Esther Maria personally because he wanted to make her album. He is known for his work with bands such as, Low, Will Oldham, Galaxie 500, Daniel Johnston and for generally spotting new talents.

When the president Neill Dixon for Canadian Music Week heard the songs from “The Abyss” he immediately invited Esther Maria to play at CMW 2013. As a result of the two shows played there Esther Maria got two tracks from “The Abyss” (Broken and Off The Edge) placed in both the movie and the trailer for the Canadian indie film “Copenhagen” which had its world premiere at Slamdance Film Festival in January 2014.

Where “The Abyss” was a dark, melancholic and an acoustic album, “All Said & Done” is more up-tempo, light and modern, but at the same time inspired by the 80’s pop soundscape. Esther Maria also chose to work with the Danish producer team Soren Zahle and Mads Tonder to obtain a more Nordic and compact atmosphere. Even though the sound of the music may have changed Esther Marias unique and powerful voice, compared with artists like Joni Mitchell, PJ Harvey og Annie Lennox, is still her trademark, also on the new EP “All Said & Done”.
