Shihan Mihiranga is known as Sri Lanka's first ever pop star who emerged through a reality TV show. He became 5th in the local reality TV competition called "Super Star"(2005/06), which indeed a local version of famous "American Idol".
Even though he was not the winner of that competition which had a participation over 30000 candidates and which was the biggest it kind held in Sri Lanka, he was the one who was able reach the pop star level first.
He became the first to release his own album 'DreamZ of Shihan' soon after the competition.
