Lancaster Transit was formed in 2006 through a chance meeting between Zach Gannon and Melissa Lancaster. After a few weeks of talks and idea swapping, they set to work recording their debut album, "Aliens and Strangers". By fusing Zach Gannon's electronic compositions and folk instrumentation with Melissa's vocal talent and production experience, the duo was able to write, record, and publish the album completely on their own in Lancaster's Durant Studios.

"A&S" was met with critical acclaim from various independent and commercial web publications, such as Spin Magazine and Whisperin' and Hollerin'. After finishing "A&S" and playing various local shows, Lancaster Transit began what would become a 2-year process of writing and recording over 30 songs for their sophomore album, "A Point With No Edges: A Series of Short Songs". Eventually, 18 of the 30 tracks would make it onto the album, while the other 12 would be saved for later digital release.

Influences vary widely, from Imogen Heap and The Books to Nickel Creek and Brian Wilson. Live, Lancaster Transit has been known to cover such bands as Massive Attack, Toto, and Joe Purdy.
