I Miss the Innocence Lyrics

Not a worry in the world
A crazy boy and pretty girl
Man, life was simple then
Nothin' that we had to do
And no one to answer to
'Til reality stepped in

We're growing up
We've changed so much

I miss the innocence, the way it used to be
The way that we outran the world 'til it caught you and me
I miss the way it was, the way we used to laugh
The way it felt to fall in love when dreams were all we had
Days like this, I miss the innocence

Another morning, here I am
Between a deadline and traffic jam
And cursing all the signs
We didn't talk before I left
We're always busy doing something else
And lately that's been on my mind

We're always rushed
And there's no time for us

I miss the innocence, the way it used to be
The way that we outran the world 'til it caught you and me
I miss the way it was, the way we used to laugh
The way it felt to fall in love when dreams were all we had
Days like this, I miss the innocence, oh yeah

I miss the innocence, the way it used to be
The way that we outran the world 'til it caught you and me
I miss the way it was, the way we used to laugh
The way it felt to fall in love when dreams were all we had
Days like this, days like this I miss the innocence, oh

Well, I miss the innocence
Ooh yeah

Phil Vassar (born May 28, 1964 in Lynchburg, Virginia) is an American country music artist, most notable for his songwriting and use of a piano as his most prominent backing instrument.

Prior to signing with Arista Records in 2000, Vassar's songwriting talent was no stranger to the airwaves, penning number-one hits for some of the most popular country artists of the late 1990s: Jo Dee Messina ("Bye, Bye" and "I'm Alright"), Alan Jackson ("Right on the Money") and Tim McGraw ("My Next Thirty Years" and "For A Little While"). He has also written songs for Collin Raye ("Little Red Rodeo") and Blackhawk ("Postmarked Birmingham").

Vassar also co-owns a piano bar outside Nashville, Tennessee, where he performed his own material prior to signing a record deal. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
